April Rivas
Yoga, Prenatal Yoga
As a mother of four boys, a school librarian, a community volunteer, and a yoga instructor, April Riva knows a thing or two about balancing a busy life. With a Master’s degree in Library Science and a Bachelor’s degree in Spanish, April has built her career around education, helping others learn, grow, and discover new possibilities.
April first came to yoga while looking for a low-impact way to become more physically active. Struggling with fatigue, physical discomfort, and the demands of raising four children while working full-time, she needed something that would support her own health and well-being. What began as a way to move her body gradually became something much more meaningful: an opportunity to slow down, reconnect with herself, and make her own needs a priority.
That personal experience inspired April to become a yoga instructor. She understands that stepping into a yoga class for the first time can feel intimidating, especially for those who are new to exercise, dealing with physical limitations, or convinced they aren't flexible enough to practice yoga. Her goal is to create a welcoming, supportive environment where students feel comfortable exploring movement at their own pace.
April believes yoga isn't about achieving the perfect pose or comparing yourself to the person on the next mat. It's about discovering what your body can do, respecting where you are today, and recognizing that even small steps can make a meaningful difference. She encourages students to approach their practice with curiosity, patience, and a willingness to try something new.
Outside the studio, April enjoys spending time outdoors with her family, camping, hiking, and exploring new places. An active Scouting volunteer, she loves sharing her appreciation for nature and adventure with others. She also enjoys photography, crafting, reading, and capturing little moments of mindfulness in everyday life.
Whether she's guiding students through yoga, helping children discover a love of reading, or exploring a new trail with her family, April brings the same philosophy to everything she does: learning and growth are lifelong adventures, and there's always room for a little fun along the way.
