The benefits of attending a prenatal yoga class are far beyond what you can receive by simply modifying a regular yoga or exercise class. Our MamasteYoga™ classes are specifically designed to help prepare the body and the mind for labor, delivery and motherhood. The exercises are carefully chosen to be safe for mom and baby, to maintain or correct posture and to relieve neck and lower back pain, sciatica symptoms, cramps and other common complaints associated with pregnancy. You will learn specialized movements and breathing techniques to be used during labor. Learn to relax on command and to keep a positive outlook while clearing the mind of the stresses associated with pregnancy and motherwood. Deepen the bond with your baby and enjoy support and encouragement from the other students. Many lifelong friendships start in prenatal yoga classes! These classes are appropriate for both beginning and experienced yoga practitioners and conform to the safety guidelines of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists for exercise during pregnancy. You must be in your second or third trimester to participate. A physician’s release is also required, available online here.

Please bring a pillow for comfort. You are also encouraged to bring your own yoga mat and blankets if you have them (available for purchase in the boutique).

Learn and practice mindful yoga postures you can do together to prepare the body and mind for labor and delivery and to nurture Mom in safe and gentle ways. No previous yoga experience required. Come in loose clothing, ready to breathe, stretch and strengthen mindfully. Mom must be in her second or third trimester and have her physician's release for exercise. babymassageThe birth of your child is a magical and exciting moment for everybody in the family. However, the first days and weeks of the life of your newborn can be a very challenging time, especially for first-time moms. Exhausted, overwhelmed, worried for their babies, some moms feel powerless and frustrated.

The Baby’s First Massage workshop teaches you a simple way to create a relaxing, rewarding, nourishing and bonding time for the whole family. You'll learn:
  • when and how to massage your newborn in a nurturing, gentle way that will help baby feel safe and loved and encourage growth and healing
  • the benefits of massage for your newborn
  • when not to massage
  • what you need to prepare for the massage
  • to recognize the “time-out” cues
  • to recognize the “talking” cry from the “I need help” cry and how to react to each
  • ways to calm your baby
  • the Baby’s First Massage routine, which is so simple a child can learn it and gentle enough to use safely on any baby (even pre-term babies, once they are medically stable)
  • massage techniques to relieve gas and constipation
You'll also receive a booklet with pictures and everything you need to continue learning the massage techniques at home.

This workshop is designed for pregnant women in their last trimester and new moms and infants up to 2 months old. Please email MiMi to inquire about private classes for babies who were born preterm or who have special needs. Bring baby bag, diapers, wipes, a firm pillow and blanket.

Graduates of this class are highly encouraged to attend Infant Massage series to build on the skills learned in this workshop.

Infant Massage is an age-old tradition that has been passed down from mother to daughter since the beginning of time, with many documented benefits.

This 5 week infant massage series builds on the skills learned in Baby's 1st Massage workshop. This gives both the parents and baby time to learn and become comfortable with the massage. Each week, parents learn strokes for a new part of the body while reviewing strokes from previous classes. So new strokes are learned and previous information is reinforced. We teach a little at a time to ensure that you are confident with every aspect. The strokes and styles of baby massage are easier to grasp when demonstrated by our experienced instructor. Pressure, rate, rhythm, the length of the massage, respect, bonding, why baby cries, baby's body language, communication through touch, positioning of the baby, relaxation, benefits,
and parent empowerment are some of the skills and topics that may be discussed.

What's a class like?
  • Our classes are held in small groups to ensure personalized attention.
  • Classes are baby led. In our classes, it's okay for babies to cry!
  • Supportive group sessions where parents can share experiences and learn from each other while having fun.
  • Recommended age for group classes is from 6-8 weeks to pre-crawling.
Previous attendance to a group or private Baby's First Massage class is highly recommended but not required. Private instruction for special needs babies or for digestive issues is available by directly contacting Mimi.




"MOMMY & ME" ZUMBA™ 


Zumba™ with Baby

Intended for moms and their infants, newborn to pre-walkers (around 9 months)

Moms often scratch themselves off of their priority list when a new baby arrives. It doesn’t have to be that way. Now, you can enjoy valuable “you-time” while your baby is safe, in your full view and hanging out with other babies. Dance a 30-45 minute Zumba cardio workout while being able to tend to your baby immediately when needed. Music is played at a softer volume than a regular Zumba classes, and your baby never leaves your sight. Baby can sit in his or her car seat or play on on the blanket in front of class with toys and other babies, or you can wear your baby while dancing. Also included is interactive strength work with baby.

Babies love this social time and watching their mom dance, and they eventually pick up on the music and start dancing with us!


Zumba™ with Toddler

Intended for moms and their walking toddlers, 9m-2.5 years.

Mom, come play and dance with your toddler while getting your workout in. With toddler-friendly music and simple movements, Zumba with Toddler is a fun way to focus on your toddler, learn basic Zumba moves and have fun quality time with other moms and kids. You’ll also utilize your toddler as a ‘living weight’ to lift and move with reps for some ‘out of the box’ muscle toning

Note: Moms must supervise their toddlers at all times as the studio is not child-proofed.

This class is designed for parent and child (ages 3-5) to enjoy doing together! It's a fun and invigorating blend of gentle Flow Yoga and Kids' Yoga with a partnering aspect. We focus on movement, coordination, balance, muscle toning, and basic kinetic skills for you and your little one. The gentle flowing yoga sequences are appropriate for all levels and can be modified for more advanced practice or those wanting more of a workout. 

Note: this is not a kids-only yoga class. Children must be accompanied and supervised by a parent or guardian in class, as our studio is not fully child-proofed.

With so many choices of activities for our children, why Yoga for Kids? Even though they have more comfort and material possessions than our grandparents could ever dream of when they were little, 21st century children also have more stress than ever before. The hurried pace of our modern life and the academic and social pressures kids are exposed to are only compounded by the competitive nature of many sports and afterschool activities. Yoga for Kids offers a healthy way to release this stress and develop awareness, strength, flexibility, acceptance and calm in a fun, non-competitive environment.

The many benefits of Yoga for Kids include:
  • Encourages the balanced growth of children, alleviates growing pains, and reduces the risk of sports-related injuries by stretching and strengthening all muscle groups.

The class begins with warm-ups and sharing. Traditional yoga postures are linked to mindful breathing. A short guided relaxation is followed by breath work. This is a non-sectarian, non-religious class. Students should dress in comfortable clothing that does not restrict breathing; we suggest sweatpants, athletic or martial arts clothing, or leotards and tights.
