PILATES MAT BASICS SERIES

In this semi-private class series designed for those new to Pilates, we will explore the fundamentals of the Pilates Method one step at a time. Learn breathwork, core stabilization, mind-body focus, proper alignment and technique, and much more, with an opportunity to ask questions, get individual assistance and learn modifications for specific needs. This series is the best way to prepare for our regular drop-in mat classes.

We have several certified trainers offering private and semi-private training on the Pilates equipment. Reach your fitness goals more quickly with an intensive yet gentle customized workout using the Reformer, Cadillac, Tower, Chair, Spine Corrector and Ladder Barrel, physical conditioning equipment designed by Joseph Pilates. The equipment provides safe, stable spring resistance that dramatically builds muscle strength and tone without bulk.

Private training is focused on your needs and abilities, ensuring lots of personal attention. Equipment work is appropriate for all levels of students, including beginners and those with special needs. For most clients without serious physical limitations, basic Pilates matwork experience will be very helpful and is strongly suggested before starting equipment work. We recommend committing to at least four sessions to determine whether equipment training is right for you.

We do not offer reformer or tower "classes" on a drop-in basis, as we do not believe this to be an effective way to train on the equipment. We do offer semi-private sessions of 2, 3 or 4 students. If you have never worked with the equipment before, you may be required to take at least one private session before beginning semi-private training, so that we can accurately assess your needs and level before pairing you with other students. And even then, there is no guarantee that we'll be able to find a suitable partner for you.  Please also note: semi-private training is not appropriate if you have physical limitations or special needs requiring one-on-one attention.
