DREAMING DESTINY:  A Shamanic Passages Workshop
with Gerry Starnes, M.Ed.
Saturday, July 12, 4-9p
$60 in advance, $70 at the door

Many spiritual traditions tell us that "life is a dream" and we are the dreamers. Is your dream less than you desire it to be? Do you sometimes experience regret, confusion or dissatisfaction in your life? Or do you simply know that the dream of your life has more potential than what you are experiencing, but you are unsure about how to make manifest your fullest expression? Whether you wish your life were different, or would simply desire more fulfillment and peace of mind, this workshop will support you as you awaken to the truth about your current dream. Learn how to clearly define and create the dream you've imagined for yourself. Discover the difference between Fate and Destiny, and explore ways to change the path that your past has created.

You will leave this workshop with a rich and practical understanding about how and why you have created your life experiences, the riches and wisdom available to you right now, as your dream unfolds, and how to access all you long for and need. Bring a journal or notebook and willingness to examine yourself from a perspective of personal power.

Also join Gerry for our regular monthly TranceDance on Friday evening, July 11 (a great way to prepare for this workshop experience), and the Contemporary Shamanism Dialog on Saturday before the workshop (see below). He is also available for a limited number of one-on-one healing/counseling sessions on Sunday. Contact him for more info or to schedule private sessions at gerry@gerrystarnes.com.

CONTEMPORARY SHAMANISM DIALOG
with Gerry Starnes, M.Ed.
Saturday, July 12, 2:30-3:30p
FREE (sponsored by Ravens Grove Foundation for Healing, Inc.)

Join us for an informative exploration of Contemporary Shamanism: its concepts, practices and uses in today's culture. Get your questions answered and dispel the myths and misperceptions. Shamanism is not a religion but rather an ancient way of perceiving and being in the world that is based in nature, energy, spirit and respect for all beings. Come find out more!

A specific focus for this dialog is Recapitulation and Soul Retrieval: Shamanic Healing of Trauma. Shamans view almost all emotional, mental, and even physical ills as the result of traumatic events and encounters with power in which one "loses" part of their soul. Few of us reach adulthood intact and whole, but the shamanic process of Soul Retrieval can offer healing and hope. Come learn more about contemporary shamanism and its relationship to your life.

AIKIDO WITH THE JO SERIES
with Lynn Fabia Sensei, 6th degree black belt
8 Thursdays, 6:15-7:30p
$115 in advance, $125 at the door if space available
    July 10-August 28

It may be possible to begin in the middle of a series if space permits; please speak with the instructor.

The fluidity and freedom of movement are factors that distinguish Aikido from other martial arts. Some describe Aikido as a moving meditation, and each movement becomes a purification of the spirit. Lynn teaches how to view life from a broader perspective through the principles of Aikido. "Aikido is the art of managing energy. The intent behind the philosophy of Aikido is not combative. It is about balance in life in spirit and body as opposed to a weapon, and that the mindset is the most powerful weapon of all. The principles of Aikido teach us how to 'go with the flow' of life. True strength, power and mental understanding are capable of existing without control. This is the art of harmonious energy." ~Lynn Fabia

In this 8-week series for men and women you'll learn and practice basic Aikido technique, philosophy and teachings you can integrate throughout your life. Aikido is an excellent form of self-defense training and mind-body exercise as well as a personal journey of self-discovery.

The jo (staff) was incorporated to emphasize the principles of Aikido and to refine empty hand movements. In this series you'll learn the basic movements, fluidity and effectiveness of the jo, giving you the opportunity to apply Aikido principles in different situations. A jo staff is required and may be purchased from the instructor for $20 at the first class.

Lynn Sensei also teaches ongoing, mixed-level drop-in classes at MoveStudio; this series will give you a foundation and help prepare you for joining those classes when you are ready.

Ho-ho-ho, ha-ha-ha! Humans were designed to laugh. Laughter is nature's stress-buster. It lifts our spirits with a happy high that makes us feel good and improves our behavior towards others. We all know that laughter makes us feel good. Laughter is gentle exercise. It fill your lungs and body with oxygen, deep-clears your breathing passages and exercises your lungs. When we laugh our bodies release a cocktail of hormones & chemicals that have startling positive effects on our system. Stress is reduced, blood pressure drops, depression is lifted, your immune system is boosted & more. Western science is just starting to discover the great effects of laughter.

Laughter Yoga provides the opportunity to laugh, without reason, to enjoy the countless benefits to body and spirit that laughter offers.

"Laughter Yoga combines laughter with yogic breathing exercises. It is a perfect way to laugh and get exercise at the same time. It approaches laughter as a body exercise so it's easy to laugh even if you're depressed or in a bad mood. Last year I highlighted Laughter Yoga on my TV program. I've tried it, and it works." Oprah Winfrey
