We all know that laughter makes us feel good. Laughter is gentle exercise. It fill your lungs and body with oxygen, deep-clears your breathing passages and exercises your lungs. When we laugh our bodies release a cocktail of hormones & chemicals that have startling positive effects on our system. Stress is reduced, blood pressure drops, depression is lifted, your immune system is boosted & more. Western science is just starting to discover the great effects of laughter. Laughter Yoga provides the opportunity to laugh, without reason, to enjoy the countless benefits to body and spirit that laughter offers. In this ongoing series of workshops you'll discover the power of the chakras and experience guided meditations and yoga movement specifically designed to reconnect you to your energy body. Each workshop focuses on one of the seven chakras and includes informative lecture, interactive discussion, guided meditations, movement and energy exercises. Appropriate for all levels of fitness and experience. Melanie's chakra workshops are an ever-evolving creation; each one is a further exploration and richer understanding of the chakra system. A healthy third chakra is expressed through a feeling of uniqueness and self value, spontaneity, and openness to life. An imbalanced third chakra is expressed through the "Bully" or the "Victim"; the need to manipulate and or be controlled by others; the fear of rejection; and emotional neediness, perfectionism or judgmental agression. Many of us were raised to give our power over which keeps us in an infantile relationship with the world, struggling against "other" (corporations, authority, our partners or parents) to assert our will. To reclaim our authentic power we must go through a transformational process of individuation, separating out what is "me" versus "you" or "we." This means breaking with conformity and risking acting on our desires and instincts. We yearn to touch what is authentically calling us (soul/destiny) and overcome the inertia of obsession with safety and security to experience the power that comes through exercising choice and change. Individuation is the quest of this chakra, where we overcome unconscious habit of allowing ourselves be defined by others. The freedom to choose our destiny comes from knowing and exercising our worth. Through an interactive discussion and lecture, meditation and movement, this workshop will help you uncover the ways you might be unconsciously sabotaging your good and help you wake up to the internal abundance of creative fire living in your third chakra! Melanie Murray, MA, LPC, is an experienced yoga teacher, intuitive energy healer and therapist. Through her own meditation practice and study with sufis, Caroline Myss and other spiritual masters, she has learned the energetic anatomy of the chakras. In her healing practice, she uses the chakras to open the energy field, facilitating higher states of awareness and presence for her clients. IMPORTANT: Seating is either on the floor or in plastic stacking chairs in our yoga/dance studio setting. Please bring cushions, floor chairs, portable seats or whatever you need to be fully comfortable during seated portions of the workshop. A limited number of blankets and floor chairs are available at the studio (first-come, first-served, so arrive early or bring your own). Be prepared to remove your shoes inside the studio. Dress comfortably, bring layers for temperature control, and wear or bring socks if you are not comfortable being barefoot. Bring journal, notebook, paper, pen, etc. if you wish to take notes. |
