One Thing at a Time
Greetings , Talking on the phone while: getting to work; getting dressed; applying mascara; eating lunch; shopping; folding laundry; in line at the drive-thru; cooking dinner; wrangling your kids, the cat, the dog, the mail; tidying up, and... checking your email.
Mobility and wireless technology make for endless multitasking possibilities.
THIS WEEK'S INSPIRATION: Mono-task. Do... one... thing... at... a... time. Radical, we know. This is the same notion behind "empty mind" mediations that make wanna-be-Buddhists run screaming from retreat halls. But give it a go. In silence and focus there is power, innovation, and deep nourishment.
Pick three activities this weekend and do each of them one... at... a... time.
- Drive with your cell phone out of reach. And (gasp) no car stereo playing.
- Have a phone conversation without being in front of your computer screen.
- Work on your computer with your email alert turned off.
- Do your workout without music or talking to others.
- Take a long bath without any reading material.
- Prepare dinner without talking on the phone, or tidying up, or checking your voicemail while the water boils.
No interruptions. No distractions. No idle chatter. Just the moment, leveraged by your full attention.
If you want to get more done... do... less. Carrie McCarthy and Danielle LaPorte Authors of "Style Statement: Live by Your Own Design" www.carrieanddanielle.com | |

March Instructor of the Month Jule Aguirre!
We asked, you talked! A couple of months ago, we conducted a Comprehensive Customer Satisfaction Survey. Out of those results, we got such great feedback and are currently striving to implement many ideas and improve they ways we do business.
When we asked "Who's your favorite teacher?" the name mentioned most often was Nia Instructor Jule Aguirre. Since we first opened our doors in 2000, Jule has been an integral part of MoveStudio and has shared her love of Nia with so many. Here's what some respondents said:
"Jule is amazing, she understands Nia with every fiber of her being and can tease every nuance out of this magical technique." "Jule brings an incredible amount of energy, knowledge, and spirit to each class. Every class is new and offers us the opportunity to further our study."
"Jule's Nia classes helped me through a most difficult life experience. A member of my family was seriously ill and the spiritual nature of her class kept me sane and centered."
"[I love] her exuberance, dedication to her dancing art, positive spirit and joy of Nia. She always mixes it up [...]constantly keeping it fresh." Thanks, Jule, for all you do! More about Jule here. Tell us about your favorite instructor. |
