Many additional classes and events are held at MoveStudio on a "studio rental" basis. These events are not produced or managed by us, and therefore do not appear on our regular class schedule, but we want to share them with our community and promote these great opportunities and instructors.

11th Step Yoga
with Liz Tucker
10:30a-12p, 2nd Saturday of every month, starting May 10,
by donation (100% of the proceeds will be donated to the Preston Al-Anon Family Group)

Regardless of which 12-step program you may subscribe to, the message is essentially the same: admit our powerlessness, entertain the idea of replacing the illusion of our own power with a power that is greater than ourselves, and then with the support and guidance of that power, take a hard look at how we show up in the world, let go of behaviors that no longer serve us, and commit to making choices that will free us from suffering. The 8-limb path of yoga is similar to 12-step recovery in that it goes from studying our presence in the world to surrendering our minds and our willful actions as a pathway to samadhi (bliss) and moksha (liberation). While yoga is often presented as a form of exercise, the true essence of yoga is to prepare the body for meditation. In breaking down the density of our bodies, we are able to be more present in our union with God, and to both receive God's messages (meditation) and ask for guidance (prayer). This ongoing series will look to yoga as a tool to immerse ourselves in Step 11 in a deep and meaningful way. Please bring any 12-Step literature that you find helpful, and suggestions for topics of discussion. Beginners (to yoga and to 12-Step recovery) are welcome. Please contact Liz for more info or if you plan to attend.
